Wool Drying Stove, at Frogmarsh, Woodchester Previous   Contents    Next

There has been much debate over what this small building was used for. Three suggested uses, all connected with the woollen cloth industry are a wool drying stove, a sulphur bleach house and a teasel drying tower.  In fact before the Second World War it was used as a stable by the Midland Railway.  This example is much more complete than the one in the garden at Dauncey's Mill.  However, in about 1984 the building was extended and converted into a very unusual dwelling  (SO 840 017).
